How do I get into my folders other than my inbox?
All you need to do is follow the instructions under question number 4 of this page, except when you come to step G. Select IMAP instead of POP3.
- I prefer not to use Outlook Express and want to use "X," how do I configure it to get my Escapees e-mail?
To use software other than Outlook Express, you will need to know the following:
- Your username, the first part of your e-mail address. (i.e. your e-mail address is johndoe@escapees.com, so your username would be johndoe)
- Your password.
- POP3 is mail.escapees.com
- SMTP is mail.escapees.com
- Our server requires authentication.6. We do not support or use SSL.
- Can I use my current browser to get my Escapees mail?
We only recommend that you use a web browser if you can’t or just insist on not using an e-mail client. To check your mail using a web browser you will need to use a free service like Mail2Web.
- How do I use Mail2Web.com?
Mail2Web is a free service available at http://www.mail2web.com that you can use to check your Escapees e-mail address. Just go to the website http://www.mail2web.com and in the top box type your Escapees e-mail address and in the bottom box, type your password for your e-mail account. Then just click the "Check E-mail" button to log into your account to check your mail. For more information on how to use Mail2Web’s services please be sure to check out their “Help” tab.
- How do I get to my address book?
All you need to do is call us at 888-757-2582 and ask one of our very nice operators to e-mail your address book to you. You should within just a few moments have an e-mail in your Escapees e-mail account that contains all of your address book information.
- How do I change my forwarding?
All you need to do is login to your account at http://mail.escapees.com and click on "Preferences". This will take you to a page that will let you edit the preferences of your account including your forwarding information.
- How do I edit my filters?
All you need to do is login to your account at http://mail.escapees.com and click on "Rules". This will take you to a page were you can edit, create and delete filters.
- Why do I keep getting messages saying my mailbox is full?
Chances are, because it is getting full. To double check this, login to your account at http://www.mail2web.com and see if you have any folders that are full. If you have any filters running that are moving your mail to another folder, you might want to consider deleting those filters, by logging into http://mail.escapees.com, because your Mail2Web or e-mail reader will not see messages in any folder other than your inbox. The only exception here is if you have setup an e-mail reader to use an IMap connection.
- I followed your instructions with Outlook Express and I can receive e-mail but I can't send anything; what gives?
If you've followed our instructions verbatim and you can receive e-mails but are unable to send messages, then you are having trouble with your SMTP server. This is more than likely a problem that arose from your ISP having a configuration that keeps you from sending e-mails using any SMTP server other than theirs. If it was working and now it doesn't and you haven't done anything different or made any changes, then either your ISP made some setting changes or you moved from one location to another where the servers are configured differently. What happens a lot of the time and is becoming more and more common in the large, and even the small, local ISPs, is that they are now blocking any traffic connected to the Internet through them that is trying to use any SMTP service other than their own. This means that you will have to go into your configuration settings and change your SMTP settings to use their server. If you do not know how to do this, call your ISP and ask them how you can send mail using their SMTP server information. Make sure, if you still wish to use our service, that you only change the SMTP account settings under your Escapees account. Changing anything other than the SMTP will more than likely cause it to break.
- I did everything you said to do with Outlook Express, but nothing seems to work, what gives?
If you've followed our instructions verbatim and you are totally unsuccessful at getting Outlook Express to do anything, but you are able to visit our Website and log into your e-mail through our Web-based e-mail service, then this problem becomes a support issue on your computer. We are very regretful that we are unable to give you technical support for your computer.
- If you have any concerns not covered in the guide, you may send us a note by visiting this link, Send Note. Please be aware that we are unable to provide technical support so you may not receive a personalized response.
