BIO: Angie Carr
Executive Director
From an early age, Angie knew there had to be a better way to go camping. Tents are fun and exciting for children, but Texas summers aren’t very conducive to tent-camping. Still, the draw of wide open spaces and what was around the next curve of the road was enticing, no matter how high the temperatures climbed.
Each summer she would contact state travel visitors bureaus for maps and brochures to plan her imaginary extended vacations (sometimes she’d have to fib and make up a travel date!). Then, with help from a yellow highlighter, she’d map out which route would be most efficient to see each destination in that state. Thanks to Escapees RV Club having its national headquarters in Livingston, Angie became aware of RVs as a teenager.
After graduating high school in 1997, Angie began working as an Escapees phone operator. Within two years, she was promoted to department supervisor of the mail processing department. Soon after, she became executive assistant to both the CEO and vice president. Through the years, Angie learned each position in the company and how each process works.
In 2000, Angie married Greg Carr, Escapees webmaster and grandson of the club’s founders. While working full-time, Angie earned her degrees in business management and human resources. Today, Angie is Executive Director of Escapees RV Club.
Angie is supported by a staff of 100, including an Executive Team that was established in 2005 as the support structure for daily operations. The Executive Team is made up of four members: Angie Carr, Executive Director; Mark Nemeth, Director of Consumer Affairs; and Teresa Moore, CFO. The team works shoulder to shoulder with the Escapees Board of Directors to continue the original concepts and goals of the club.
Escapees is proud of its third-generation status and believes that is what makes our club so unique. We really are a family organization, and our family motto of sharing and caring is visible in everything we do.
