SHANTY SHAKERS, Chapter 25

The Shanty Shakers (Chapter 25) was founded on August 24th 1989 with 43 members. The name Shanty Shakers was the idea of our first President, Bill Hitt, who had been a commercial truck driver for many years hauling mobile homes. The truckers call these rigs "shanty shakers".

The Shanty Shakers meet on the 4th Saturday of each month at 10:00AM at the Denny's Restaurant at the intersection of Navajo Road and Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon, CA.

2010 PLANS IN THE WORKS

March 6th & 7th Cancelled due to rain.

March 20th & 21st,Temecula Bluegrass Festival. We will be located on the Old KFC lot next to Denny's on Moreno Rd) all 13 sites are spoken for at this time.

April 15th - 18th Butterfield Ranch Resort RV, 14925 Great Southern Overland Stage Route, Julian, CA 92036 1-760 765-1463,Gather the rigs around. We are having a round up at Butterfield Ranch on S1 south of Julian and North of Ocotillo. Bring your Western gear, music and food and get ready to hoot and holler. There will a full moon shining. Bob and I took a ride to check it out and like what we saw. They have been doing a lot of clean up and the place looks great. There are actually three ways to get there. 1)The most direct is through Julian but the road down to the desert is very challenging (75 miles). 2) The road going close to old Warners Hot Springs Ranch is less challenging and more comfortable (85 miles) 3) Last, is straight East on US-8 to Ocatillo Springs then North to the campground (110 miles). We will be circling our rigs in two or three circles. They all have full hook-ups. We will have access to our own pool, hot tub and bar-b-que. There are burn pits at the circles so bring your chairs. The Park will have guided walks for those that would like to wonder the hills or see the old indian village The cost is $25 a night and a $5 rally fee. The rally is scheduled for April 16,17 and 18th. We are pulling in on Thursday April 15 and will be leaving on Monday April 19. You are welcome to extend your stay or come early.
