Chapter 29 - Carolina Rovers

The Carolina Rovers are back!!!!

After reorganizing at the ACRES Rally in April 2011, The Carolina Rovers held their first rally on September 22
26, 2011 in Concord, NC. Back in the day, the Post Office used to say, “Neither rain, nor sleet, nor the gloom of
night. . . “ At this rally, President Bob (aka retired Postal Carrier) and his mighty crew battled rain, flash flood
warnings and some thunder and lighting and still had fun. To quote one member, Larry Hinshaw, “If we are
having this much fun under these conditions, imagine what it would be like if it was sunny ”. 21 rigs with 39
people attended the rally. For 6 attendees, it was their first ever RV club rally. Stan and Betty Bober attended
the rally as VCR’s (Volunteer Club Representatives) and provided valuable assistance to the new officers. They
also had lots of fun. We enjoyed coffee each morning, eggs in a bag, a catered dinner provided by Tom Johnson
Camping Center, Shopping at Concord Mills, a Tech Talk session facilitated by a nice Italian fellow, Olaf
Thorson, a Master Tech from Tom Johnson, a pot luck dinner to die for and lots of social time. And, the Carolina
Rovers had an auction that raised $1,000 for CARE. As another member said, “This group ROCKS!”. The
Chapter’s next rally will be at the April 2012 ACRES rally in Marion, NC followed by a fall 2012 rally at a location
to be determined. Rally attendees were also blessed when a woman stopped in to introduce herself. She was
Ina Mae Runyon SKP#22877. She was quickly invited to attend the pot luck dinner and CARE auction. She
really enjoyed the time with us and we with her. The next morning, Ina Mae came by after church and spoke with
Keith Martin, Co-Rally Master. She told Keith again how much she enjoyed our group. She said it brought back
memories of all the fun she had at Escapee events with her husband. She went on to say that when she got
home the night before, she looked up to the heavens and told her husband (deceased in early 2002), “wish you
could have been here.” Chapter 29 adopted Ina Mae as an Honorary Member and will be invited to all our future
events.

Spring 2012 Rally
The Carolina Rovers will hold their Spring 2012 rally at the SKP ACRE's rally in Marion, NC April 17 - 22, 2012.
All you need to do is register via ACRE http://www.skpacre.com/registration.html where you will pay the rally fee
and sign up for additional activities. Chapter 29 will not charge an additional fee. A Chapter 29 meeting will be
held at this rally where members will talk about the 2012 fall rally and elections for Prsident and Secratary will be
held. Please note, there is a Good Sam rally coming in on Sunday April 22, 2012. So plan accordingly.

Steve Masterson and Keith Martin will be Co-Rally Masters for this rally. More details to follow.


Fall 2012 Rally
Keith Martin and Erwin Heins will be Co-Rally Masters for the Fall 2012 rally and they are scoping out potential
locations.
