Erie Shores Chapter #36 Minutes June 12, 2009
The Escapees Chapter #36 business meeting was called to order on June 12, 2010 at 10:30 am by Vice President Randy Hook with 44 members present. A moment of silence was held for all ill members and our service men and women that are keeping us safe, followed by The Pledge to the Flag. Officer roll call was taken with all present except President Jim Staudacher.
Meeting Minutes: Minutes of the August 2009 meeting were approved as read.
Treasurer Report: Treasurer, Barbara McKenzie, reported expenses of $4532.16, income of $8159.33 with a balance of $5748.55. Tom Mason made a motion to accept the Treasurer report; it was seconded by Wayne McMullen. Motion passed.
Sunshine: Barb Knittel sent out cards to Henry Gartner, Don Baker, Chris Clemmons family, Donna Moore, Delores & Charles Frye, Tim Mitchell, Barb Packman, Susie Orr, Connie Sheets, and Butch and Doe Rummel. She also passed a couple of cards around so we could all sign.
Old Business: Tri rally report: Vic Shrubb reported that Kay & Joe Peterson cannot make the tri rally as Joe has problems with his eyes. Taree reported the newsletter had a schedule for the tri rally in it. Breakfast will be $2.50 each person with all profit going to CARE. Also bring things to auction off for CARE. "The Stockdale Family" will entertain on Saturday night. Aug. rally will be Aug. 26 through the 29th with a change in Host being Don and Diana Fischer and Co-Host being John and Bonnie Hopkins. Don reported they would need a lot of help, the rally starts on Thurs, vegetable soup for dinner on Thursday, bring fresh, or frozen vegetables to add to soup. It will be a German theme. Fri. and Sat. breakfast will be health conscious with cereal, milk, fruit and OJ. Friday we will tour Grand Dunn and dinner will be at The Barn at 5:30. Saturday breakfast at 8:00 am and business meeting at 9:00 am. Games at 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm Happy hour, Dinner will be Bratwurst, hot dogs, sauerkraut, sweet corn. Bring salad or desert. If you’ve not done so already, please register for this rally so they have a count on how much food to order.
New Business: Fred and Barbara Adkins have volunteered to set on the Row to represent Chapter #36 at the Escapade in Sept. Vice President Randy Hook received an e-mail from CARE with a special-request need of a video projector for entertainment for residence and they also need a portable grease trap. No response from members.
Chapter dues: there are over 60 members with dues that are delinquent from 2009 and 30 members dues delinquent from 2008. President Jim Staudacher has asked Vice President Randy Hook to ask current members if we should remove those members from the roster that are not current on their dues, when dues are paid they will be put back on current roster. With discussion we went back to by-laws and it says to remove them from roster.
Vice President Randy Hook reported: A recommendation has been made that the Chapter roster be managed by the Chapter Treasurer. The recommendation has been discussed with the Treasurer and she has accepted the responsibility if the members agree. John Andrews has done a great job over the years of keeping the roster up to date with the information that has been submitted to him, so that we are not duplicating efforts. It makes only sense to have the Chapter Treasurer to be the only one updating the roster. Treasurer will send update to Connie Sheets. Bonnie Hand made the motion to have the Chapter Treasurer update the roster and send to Newsletter Editor. This was seconded by Jack Knittel. Motion passed.
It has been recommended that whoever sends adoption picture to the Newsletter editor to please send along names with pictures.
Need to appoint nominating committee: Vice President Randy Hook asked for volunteers: Jack Knittel & Jerry Jewel volunteered. Jane Lewis, Secretary will be stepping down after this year due to other commitments.
Chapter Newsletter Editor and Web Master is Connie Sheets. On behalf of the Chapter, Vice President Randy Hook would like to thank Connie for a job well done, with printing of the newsletter and being our web master. Randy contacted Connie to see if she would continue to be able to be our Newsletter Editor and Web Master, she said she would as long as the chapter would accept her to do it. Going forward, Connie Sheets will remain Chapter Newsletter Editor and Web Master. Please send Connie anything that needs to be in the newsletter as she cannot always make the rallies
VCR:
• Vice President Randy Hook introduced Bernie and Carol Patton as our VCR's. Bernie provided the latest SKP#: 106,261. Bernie asked how many were planning on going to Escapade, Sept 12th thru 17th. Bernie thanked Fred and Barbara Adkins for being row volunteers. He also said chapters in the past have had their own social hour, this year 36, 51, and 6 will share the social hour, and Susie Orr has already made arrangements for it. Barb and Fred Adkins will get information when they get to the Escapade and will let members know.
• Club news reported that Escapees was on the Today Show, June 14, 2010. The Today Show and AARP followed their travels for awhile to learn more about their RV lifestyle.
• Carol reported how wonderful the "HOPS" are. She said if you have an opportunity to go on a HOP, please do, as they are a lot of fun.
• Carol explained what the lamplighter program was. The program is, if you bring someone from the outside to join escapees you will get a pin, and for every two more you will receive a flame.
• Carol also reported that volunteers for CARE are always needed, for those who have time. If so, go to Texas to volunteer for them as they can always use your help. During the Summer they are always desperate for help.
• Susie Orr is recovering nicely and they are back in their motor home.
Rally Report: Clyde McKenzie reported 31 rigs; 70 people at the rally. Happy hour at 4:00 pm in the meeting hall; dinner at 5:00 pm with everyone bringing their own place setting. 7:30 pm: horse races.
Vice President Randy Hook thanked the Host and Co-Host and all their helpers.
No Adoptions
After long discussion on a motion made by Tom Mason to pay rally and camping fees for Chapter officers starting in 2011, and seconded by Bob Lewis, the motion failed.
John Bisson made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Clyde McKenzie.
Respectfully,
Jane Lewis, Secretary
