Chapter 41 NYSKPS

Primary area of interest: New York State!

(This page maintained by Eric LaJuene. Last modified: 3/15/2010 12:07:26 PMCentral time.)

HISTORY OF CHAPTER 41 - NYSKP's

After attending a Chapter 3 Rally and finding out there were 350 SKP members in NYS with no chapter, Esther Tallamy and her friends on Long Island decided to start one. And why not? She was qualified to do just that as she had been the first female Chapter president for SKP’s in the United States, presiding over Chapter 3. Chapter 3 consisted at that time of the New England States and Eastern NY. Fifty people were in attendance at the first meeting. Monthly luncheons continued until the first rally was held at Brook-N-Wood Campground, in Elizaville, NY, a small upstate town just east of the Hudson River in Dutchess County. That was May of 1996 and Esther became the new chapter’s first president. The Chapter continues to grow and holds two annual rallies, the first full weekend in June and the weekend after Labor Day in September. Please come and join us as we explore the wonders of our region.”
