The 2008 Ken-Tenn Chapter 42 Fall Rally at the Pin Oak Campground in Natchez Trace State Park was a new experience for most of the attendees. The campground has full hookups, clean restrooms and is situated on Pin Oak Lake. Almost half of our group arrived on the Sunday prior to the rally to enjoy one of Tennessee’s nicest parks. On Tuesday night our group visited a local family-owned restaurant, McAlexander’s in downtown Lexington to sample some of the local cuisine. Wednesday morning found us caravanning to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch where we toured the museum and walked about the grounds taking pictures. Several of us stopped at the Loretta Lynn Kitchen restaurant for lunch. Next was a stop at the Birdsong RV Resort & Pearl Museum, where we viewed a film on the establishment of the only freshwater pearl farm in the country. Owner Bob Yeast gave us an overview of his family history and his future plans for the resort. Several of our members expressed a desire to come back for a rally at the resort. Wednesday night found us at the Natchez Trace State Park Lodge for a buffet. We then join a number of others for some game play. Thursday was a free day for relaxing and exploring the surrounding areas. The park has several miles of good cycling roads and some good hiking trails around the lake. The afternoon was spent learning and playing “Ladder Golf”. The potluck dinner Thursday night left everyone ready for a relaxing time around the fire that Ed and Peggy Landers created every night. The hosts prepared breakfast for the group on Friday morning, with hot cereals, pastries, fruit, coffee, and hot chocolate. After some cycling and walks around the park, the group got up another round of “Ladder Golf”. The women seemed to be able to win most of the matches with little effort. Friday night found us once again enjoying a great “Seafood Buffet” at the Lodge. Game night found many of us playing “Farkle” and “Hand & Foot”. We especially appreciated how the folks at the Lodge allowed us to use their facilities and accommodated our group in so many ways. We want to also welcome Ed & Peggy Landers, who came as guests of John & Sharon Adams, and who became our latest SKP and Ken-Tenn members at the rally.

RALLIES: The Chapter 42 Spring rally will be held at the Reelfoot Lake State Park Cmpground near Tiptonville, TN during May 12-15, 2009. During the rally, we plan to take a boat trip on the lake where a naturalist will inform us about Reelfoot Lake's unusual history and the vast amount of wildlife that call the beautiful lake home.
In addition to the boat trip, events will include a potluck dinner, sightseeing, socializing, games, etc. Perhaps the guys can reverse the winning streak from the gals in Ladder Golf. Hosts will be Ron & Lois Evans, Fred & dottie Thorpe and Ralph & Virginia Wiggers.
Reefoot Lake State Park Campground does not take reservations, but this should not be a problem mid-week with their 100 water & 30 amp electric sites. However, for planning purposes, please let the host know by April 15, 2009 if you plan to attend. Contact Evans at 931-484-6798 or rvron2004@yahoo.com or Wiggers at 931-200-4742 or rvwiggers59@frontiernet.net.
We hope to see all Chapter 42 members there and hope any Escapees in the area will join us. Chapter OfficersPresident
