Chapter 42 Spring Rally at Pigeon Forge, TN
The Spring Rally was held April 24-27, 2010 at Riverbend Campground in Pigeon Forge. Several eager participants arrived on the 22nd and we headed out to dinner at Tony Roma's. Friday the 23 we had a meeting to decide whether we wanted to attend a show, and if so which one. We decided on dinner at the Wood Grill and The Tennessee Shindig after. After our meeting we headed downtown to try the Happy Days Diner. Saturday we had a free day and that evening had a Meatball Hoagie Dinner at the shelter provided by Al and Mary Ingram. That was a good meal! Sunday was another day with free time and some headed for Dollywood, while others ventured out shopping. Monday we started with Coffee and Donuts and then at 9:30 headed for Cades Cove. We carried our lunches and ate in our cars because of the rain, but had a good day anyway. Saw a couple of bears, several deer and wild turkeys. At 5 pm we headed for the Wood Grill and then after eating too much went next door for the show. It is a lively variety show with some lovely costumes and nice music. Tuesday was coffee and donuts again to start us off. Quickly we headed off for the Titanic Museum and spent the rest of the morning going through that lovely recreation. We each had a boarding pass of a real passenger so at the end found out our fate. The museum had opened only about a week before our visit. After lunch we had our Chapter meeting and election of officers. Dinner was at TGI Friday's. While we were eating a valance fell down on the men and hit Denny Orr on the back of the head. They gave him his meal and a dessert - that's really using your head! Wednesday was hook up time and 6 of us headed off toward Tom Johnson RV Park in Marion, NC for the Multi-Chapter Rally there. Thanks to the hosts Al & Mary Ingram and Ralph and Virginia Wiggers for a great rally.

RALLIES: Mark your calendars for the Fall Chapter 42 Rally in Cave City, KY. The rally will run from Sep 5-8, 2010 at Cave Country Campground in Cave City.
Hosts for the rally are Tom and Bonnie Borla and Paul & Joanne Reed.
This campground is in the center of the cave area and there are many things of interest to see. Because this rally is over the Labor Day Weekend you will need to make your reservations early to be with the group. You can make reservations online at their web site – cavecountryrv.com or by calling 270-773-4678.
Be sure to mention that you are with Escapees Chapter 42.
The rates are $33./ night for 30 amp service, and $35./night for 50 amp service. If we have 10 units or more these rates drop to $27./night for 30 amp and $28./night for 50 amp. Let’s work on getting more than 10 rigs there! These rates include full hookups, cable TV and wifi.
There are good restaurants, shopping and caving in the area so our 3 days will be full of activity. We will have use of a building so get ready for some games!
ROLLING RALLY TO ESCAPADE 2010
Our rolling rally will start at Cave City, move to Columbus, Indiana area, on to Warsaw, Indiana then into the Escapade as a group. The proposed schedule is as follows:
September 8 we will move from Cave City, KY to Ceraland (Cummins Rec. Area Campground) at Columbus, IN for 3 nights (8,9,10). This is approximately 160 miles. Those interested will be able to tour the Cummins Engine Plant there, we will also plan a tour of a really neat popcorn factory. There is also Nashville, IN very close and it is always a fun place to visit. At Ceraland the fees will be $21/night with water/electric and $25/night for full hookups. We will need the names of those desiring to tour the Cummins Engine plant NLT August 6, 2010.
Columbus to Warsaw is about 170 miles. In Warsaw we will stay at the Kosciusko County Fair Grounds on Sep. 11. We will need a count by June 7 if you think you will be going to the Escapade with us. I (Virginia) will then make the reservations for our group. We will not need a deposit, just numbers so they will save those sites for us. Please let us know of your intent to be with us for the trip into Escapade.
The cost to camp will be $20. For 30 amp or $24 for 50 amp unless we have 10 or more units and then we will pay less. Be sure to let me know if you need 30 or 50 amp when you respond by June 7. If you think you will possibly go it is easier to cancel a site than to add later. I am sure other groups will try to stay there before Escapade so we need to get our sites reserved.
Warsaw is only 25 miles from Goshen so an easy drive in on the 12th. If we go in together we can park together. The Escapade is at the Goshen Fairgrounds on Sep.12-17.
