Escapees RV Club Chapter 51, Hoosier Neighbor

Indiana Chapter 51 was established on July 22, 2005 with a Rally at Pla-Mor Campground located in Bremen, IN. We not only had Indiana residents but some from surrounding states as well. Anyone who is interested in attending or belonging to our chapter is welcome. We will be meeting at least 2 to 3 times a year and the dues are $8 yearly or $32 for 5 years, payable on or before August 1 of each year.

What's fun, growing, and really "HOT" right now?





President’s View

We spent about two weeks at the Indiana Dunes State Park and surrounding area in August. It is a beautiful state park and the campground is really nice. We were not able to get a weekend at the park because it has become so popular so we moved to another campground, parked the RV and went to Illinois to visit our youngest daughter for the week end. She is house hunting and we went and saw about 3 houses with her. We think she has found the one she wants. If all goes well for her, we will probably be helping her move the end of this month.
We will be busy with rallies this month. The Escapade is only about a week away. I’ve looked over the web pages and have read about some of the changes that have been made and they sound interesting to me. Contrary to some thinking….change is good. I also noted all our members who have volunteered for staff, parking and crafts. We have a great group and you prove it over and over. Also, I know a lot of Hoosier Neighbor members will be there. I plan on seeing you there and at our fall rally that is immediately following the Escapade. It is going to be fun.

First Impressions: Sometimes when we meet someone, we decide for whatever reason, we don’t like him/her because …… only to find at another meeting that they are really neat folks. Some folks are shy, without a ready smile. The shy, quiet person may open up warmly with just a welcome greeting. Others are very outgoing and reach out to folks easily to make friends. As we all have experienced, first impressions are not always accurate.

As we travel we have been to rallies/luncheons where every guest, first timer or newbee are introduced to the group. And then we’ve been to rallies/luncheons where new folks are not even recognized. Which group makes you feel the most welcome? The SKP philosophy of Caring & Sharing will easily perpetuate with a warm welcome to all.

It’s true, we all like to see our friends at rallies. It is easy to visit only with familiar faces. But do try to remember we were all NEW at one time. Strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet! So always try to make an extra effort to get to know someone new at each of your events.
