Hawaii Cruise HOP

October 23-November 7, 2009

Hosts: Dave and Brenda Neil #26978

New:  $50.00 onboard credit per person.  What a wonderful incentive for Holland America to offer our people.  This is valid whether you’re booking today or you’ve booked when the cruise was first offered.

Hawaii, the land of paradise, where they greet you with leis as you step ashore and the land of the lava-spewing Kilauea volcano.  If music is the soul of Hawaiian culture, the ukulele is surely its most powerful voice.  Brought to the islands from Portugal in 1879 by immigrants hired to work the sugar cane plantations, the braguinha underwent a series of fine tunings by the Hawaiians – gut strings for steel, larger size, easier shape, a new name: ukulele, or “jumping flea,” a nod to the nimble fingers of a skilled player.  Learn this kind of information, a fragrant lei ceremony, and learn about Polynesian history and culture at Holland America’s illuminating Exploration Speaker Series.

Choose to cruise for YOU.  You can have the vacation of a lifetime, see the world, completely unwind, take a walk on the wild side, dance the night away, feast on fabulous cuisine, learn something new, make friends, bond with your family, and steal quiet moments with your spouse.  Whatever your heart desires is yours when you choose to cruise.

Holland America's Zaandam can carry 1,432 guests, is 780 feet long, has automatic stabilizers, has 10 guest decks, 12 guest elevators, three restaurants, two outdoor swimming pools, spa and salon, fitness center, a movie theatre, duty-free shops, Internet center, library, casino, practice tennis court, and a basketball court.  You definitely have lots to do and see on this ship during your days at sea.

Social Hours

Socials hours will be held on October 24, October 27, and November 6 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Crows Nest Lounge.  Coffee, tea, water and cookies will be served; any other beverages or snacks will need to be purchased on your account.  Your hosts will be slipping a welcome letter under your stateroom door the first evening of the HOP, which will remind you of the days and location of the onboard social hours.

Shore Excursions

Holland America

Starting May 1, you can go online and book your shore excursions.  Simply go to Holland America’s website, www.hollandamerica.com, and under For Booked Guests click on Book Shore Excursions.  You’ll need your booking number that is on the receipt you received from Dorothy Peterson.  Then follow the directions.  Once you are less than five days away from departure date, shore excursions can no longer be booked online.  Popular excursions fill up fast, so you may want to book early.  You can also book shore excursions onboard the ship if you wish to wait until then.

Shoretrips

You can also book your shore excursions through Shoretrips.  However, if something should go wrong while on an excursion with this vendor and you do not get back to the ship on time, the ship will not wait for you.  If the excursion is booked through Holland America, the ships will wait until the shore excursion returns before they pull out of the port.
