Pasadena Rose Parade HOP
December 28-January 2, 2009
Hosts: Joe and Jan Tenpenny #276
Co-hosts Dave and Brenda Neil #26978
The first Tournament of Roses was staged in 1890 by members of Pasadena’s Valley Hunt Club, former residents of the East and Midwest eager to showcase their new home’s mild winter weather. “In New York, people are buried in snow,” announced Professor Charles F. Holder at a club meeting. “Here our flowers are blooming and our oranges are about to bear. Let’s hold a festival to tell the world about our paradise.”
On Thursday, January 1, 2009, at 8 a.m. (PST), millions of spectators from around the world will celebrate the New Year with the 120th Rose Parade, themed Hats Off to Entertainment. The Rose Parade will once again feature the beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians, and spirited marching bands.
We have secured full-hookup camping at Valencia Travel Village, Rose Parade tickets, Bandfest tickets, Equestfest tickets, Post Parade: Showcase of Floats Flower Lovers Guided Tour, a tour of the Autry Center with lunch, and motor coach transportation to all events. This is going to be a great Escapees HOP and a wonderful time for all.
