Eastern Caribbean Cruise HOP
January 9-16, 2011
Round-trip from Miami, FL
Sail to a dazzling array of cultural and historical ports, islands overflowing with the beauty of nature, crystal-clear surf, coral reefs, mountain peaks, and waterfalls. Spend sunshine-filled days sailing through the tropics onboard the NCL Pearl. When not at port exploring, enjoy the many exciting venues onboard the Pearl: a bowling alley, a massive spa, two pools, six hot tubs, a rock-climbing wall, a live casino, and more. The ship has it all whether you want to relax and sip a drink by the pool or in the spa or stay active and climb the rock-climbing wall or jog on the track.
Samana, Dominican Republic, will be your first stop. Samana was described by Christopher Columbus as the fairest land on the face of the earth. It is a return to a simpler place and time where the magic of discovery still awaits.
St. Thomas is a 32-square-mile island with picture-perfect beaches, the second-oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere, the childhood home of Camille Pissarro, one of the best-known French Impressionists, and the Skyride that takes you 700 feet above the city. If you need to stretch your legs a bit, you can climb the famous 99 Steps of Charlotte Amalie for an incomparable view of the Caribbean.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands, is the largest island in the chain. You can wander through centuries-old ruins such as Fort Burt, Fort Recovery, and Callwood’s Rum Distillery, which is still in operation, or just escape to the cool slopes of Sage Mountain National Park, where traces of a primeval rain forest can still be seen at higher elevations.
The last stop is Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s own tropical island. It is an uninhabited paradise of white sand beaches, majestic coconut palms, and calm pristine waters where an abundance of colorful marine life inhabits the surrounding coral reefs. Here you can snooze in a hammock under a shady palm tree or learn to snorkel in a peaceful cove. You can dance the limbo and enjoy a beachside barbecue, or circle the island in a kayak or sailboat. After your relaxing day at Great Stirrup Cay, you’ll end the day with a final elegant dinner onboard the ship and awake in the port of Miami.
