Update: Rainbow Parks and SKP Co-Op Openings

Livingston, Texas- March 2020

The Escapees board of directors has been working non-stop to ensure that all the many factions of our service network are running as smoothly as possible during this very turbulent time. As most of you know, some of our services involve the cooperation of others. We have administered policies across the Rainbow Parks system in an effort to keep residents, guests, and staff safe while still remaining open to those needing a place to stay. You can read more about these policies and procedures on our website at https://www.escapees.com/coronavirus/

We consider our park system a critical component to full-time RVers’ peace of mind, and it hurts to see some of them still frantically searching for a safe haven to shelter. Of course, SKP Co-Ops are a key piece of our park system, but it is important to recognize that they are individual cooperatives, each governed by their own board of directors. We have been in contact with each park, sharing the policies and procedures we are personally implementing into our Rainbow Parks system, and have stressed the importance of taking care of the community during these difficult times. Please note: You must be an Escapees RV Club member to reserve a campsite at SKP Co-Op parks.

As of March 20, co-op parks are doing the following:

  • SKP Saguaro in Benson, Arizona is currently closed to new reservations because they are at capacity, with both leaseholder lots and short-term spaces fully occupied. However, they are offering their dump stations and water facilities to those in need during their office hours, which are 8:00AM- 1:00PM daily.
  • Rover’s Roost in Casa Grande, Arizona is still open to new reservations until they are at capacity. They, too, are offering their dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours. 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm daily.

  • Park Sierra Co-Op in Coursegold, California is closed to new reservations, but they are honoring existing reservations. Their dry camping area, limited to six sites, serves as a quarantine area. All new guests must stay in dry camping for a minimum of 14 days. Their dump stations and water facilities are available to travelers during normal business hours. 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday; 8 am to 12 pm, Sunday.
  • Florida SKP Resort in Wachula, Florida remains open to new reservations. However, RVers considering staying here should review their adjusted park rules to ensure they are willing to comply. Guests who violate these rules will be asked to leave. The co-op is also offering their dump stations and water facilities to travelers during their normal business hours. 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday; 9 am to 12 pm, Sunday.
  • SKP Pair-A-Dice in Pahrump, Nevada is closed due to being at capacity. Water facilities and dump stations are available to visitors during their normal business hours. 8 am to 12 pm and 12:30 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday; closed Sunday

  • Alamo Area SKP Co-Op in Hondo, Texas is closed to new reservations. Travelers may use their dump stations and water facilities during normal business hours. 8:30 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Friday; 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday; closed Sunday.

In addition to working with the SKP Co-Op parks, Escapees RV Club is working with RVIA and other industry leaders on their respective COVID-19-related initiatives. Specific to the closure of state and federal parks, we support efforts to enable them to remain open. Please know this is a controversial issue. There are some groups who fear that if state and federal parks remain open to travelers, those visitors will promote the spread of COVID-19 from cities (where it is largely impacting) to rural areas. Moreover, there are concerns that some public parks lack the staffing to accommodate an influx of visitors, especially if any of their staff become ill. In addition to the closure of public parks, we are witnessing the closure of privately-operated parks. You can read more on this statement at https://www.escapees.com/coronavirus/.
