Warm Up Your Winter Under the Biggest Sky Show in the West

Get ready for an adventure over Valentine's and President's Day Weekend 2027. This Hangout takes place during the 38th Annual Western Winter Blast in Lake Havasu City, where we'll dry camp at the Lake Havasu Rodeo Grounds, so you can enjoy views of spectacular fireworks right from your RV! This seven-night Hangout embraces a pyrotechnics extravaganza as well as several outdoor activities in the Lake Havasu City area. We'll challenge you to a scavenger hunt, a self-guided walking tour of the iconic London Bridge, a scenic paddle-wheeler cruise along Copper Canyon, a slot canyon hike, and a visit to the Desert Bar.

This camping area is approximately 1⁄2 mile from the fireworks blast zone. Large, unannounced explosions may occur throughout the day and until about 9:30 PM nightly as Western Pyrotechnics Association members conduct launches.

This event may not be suitable for:

  • Individuals sensitive to loud noise
  • Those easily startled or with PTSD
  • Noise-sensitive pets

NOTE: ALL SITES ARE DRY CAMPING at the Rodeo Grounds.

Fireworks

Western Winter Blast

Each year, the Western Pyrotechnics Association holds a firework festival over President's Day Weekend. In the days prior, fireworks professionals, hobbyists, and enthusiasts come from around the world to learn about and discuss fireworks innovations, and then they light up the desert sky of Lake Havasu City with large-scale aerial demonstrations and cutting-edge pyrotechnic effects. Throughout the week, you'll be treated to some amazing fireworks that culminate into some incredible public displays over the weekend! Recent displays have featured over 12,000 firework cues, 500 drones and 90 pyro-drones. You can watch close-up from the Speedway grandstand, where you can appreciate the incredible ground displays as well as the aerials. Or stay and watch from the Rodeo Grounds, where you'll be camped just 1/2 mile from the action! *Photo credit: Kirsty Halliday SKP# 115499*

Dixie Belle

Dixie Belle Cruise

Lake Havasu City offers plenty of daytime fun on land and water. Your Hangout registration includes a two-hour chartered cruise on Lake Havasu aboard the Dixie Belle, a custom-built 60-foot long paddle-wheeler. The cruise will travel along the Colorado River through Copper Canyon, and includes a pizza lunch. There's a cash bar on board for hot or cold drinks. Afterwards, stay downtown and socialize with the group at The Chair in English Village, where we'll have our own sectioned-off outdoor seating with heaters. *Photo credit: Theresa Housel SKP# 186465*

Winter Blast Scavenger Hunt

Exploring Lake Havasu Together

Social activity during our Hangout will feature a group photo/scavenger hunt around the waterfront, a self-guided walking tour of the famous London Bridge, a guided walk at the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge where the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts meet, a hike through Sara's Crack slot canyon, and a group e-bike ride into downtown Lake Havasu. There's also a 4WD run out to the Desert Bar, a coffee and Club Talk Q&A morning, themed potluck brunch and dinner, an included group lunch at Burgers by the Bridge and a GTHO breakfast on departure morning! *Photo credit: Pam Jackson SKP# 228368*

Valentines Day Potluck Brunch

Rodeo Ground Entertainment

Several hundred other RVs who are not part of Escapees also camp at the Rodeo Grounds to enjoy the fireworks. Our Hangout RV spots will be grouped together close to the action! We will also enjoy community activities in camp through a couple of potluck meals, Club Q&A sessions, and RV tips and tricks. In the evenings, craft beer will be available for sale from a Bar onsite, along with pop-up food trucks and live music on the pavilion stage. Sea Scouts drive around all week selling firewood and tickets to their Sunday morning fundraiser pancake breakfast. A Saturday night BBQ dinner is available for purchase direct from the rodeo grounds for a fee. *Photo credit: Mark Nemeth SKP# 45776*

The organizers of Winter Blast strongly discourage campers from bringing dogs to the event because of the continuous loud noises associated with the nearby fireworks displays.
